Shillong, Jan 10: Lumpyngngad held off a spirited Mawsynram chase to win the final of the Shillong Cricket Association’s Third Division here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, Lumpyngngad dismissed off the penultimate ball of their innings for 140. Sachin Kumar (38) and Akash Dutta (29) were the main contributors with the bat, while Rickystone Nongbet took 3/20 and Shongdorlang Shangpliang 2/29 for Mawsynram with the ball.
Good bowling from Raja Balmiki (3/28) and Kitlee Nongkhlaw (2/22) restricted Mawsynram to 126/8 in their 20 overs. Standingwell Nongsiej top-scored with 28, while there was a flourish from Rudy (only first name given), who made 24 off 12 balls.
Balmiki was man-of-the-match for his three wickets and 16 runs in the first innings.
The man-of-the-tournament was Lumpyngngad’s Dutta, who scored 239 runs and took six wickets over five matches.
