Shillong, Feb 20: Royal CC will meet United XI CC in the final of the Shillong Cricket Association’s Super Division after the former won the second semifinal today against Nongmynsong CC by 22 runs.
Yesterday, United XI had defeated New Friends Union in a super over to qualify for the final.
Today, Royal CC won the toss and chose to bat first where they were able to score 195/9 in their allotted 40 overs.
An unbeaten 60 from captain Joydeepan Deb off 70 deliveries got Royal to the competitive total and he received support from lower order batters Sikander (22 off 16) and Bipin Ray (20 off 26). Sagar Rana claimed the best figures of 3/35.
Nongmynsong wobbled in the chase, losing their opening batter Manish Kumar Ray off the very first legal delivery but fellow opener and skipper Arpit Bhatewara (53) hit a fine half-century.
However, while the required run rate was gettable almost up to the end of the innings, too many wickets fell and Nongmynsong were bowled out for 173 in 38.4 overs. Aaron AR Nongrum was the pick of the bowlers and returned figures of 4/35, while Sikander took 3/33 in good all-round performance and he was named man-of-the-match.
The final will take place on Tuesday.
