Shillong, May 31: Laitjem CC recorded a massive 171-run victory over Marbisu CC in the East Khasi Hills’ Cricket Association’s T20 Tournament today in Mawryngkneng.
The later match saw Hurdles CC edge Cricket Lovers by seven runs.
Laitjem won the toss and chose to bat first and went at more than 14 runs an over to finish on 283/5 in 20 overs. They were led by Poilang Thawmuit’s 70 off just 30 deliveries and there were further half-centuries from player-of-the-match Mebanshan Kharsati (58 off 34) and Rokerben Kharpuli (54 off 30). Mansuk Kurbah was the best of the Marbisu bowlers with figures of 2/43.
In reply, Marbisu were restricted to 112/9 in 20 overs. Kurbah top-scored with 35 whiel Arnold Shadap scalped 4/12.
The second match saw Hurdles bat first on winning the toss and they were able to make 138/7 in 20 overs, with Bamanbha Shangpliang (featured photo) striking 46 off 35 balls and Lanangshngain Kharbteng 35 from 36. Mehraf Sarkar picked up 2/13.
In response, Cricket Lovers fell short by only a handful of runs as they were dismissed for 131 off the penultimate delivery of the day. Rohan Rai top-scored with 31 and Shangpliang bagged 3/13.
Hurdles may have won the match but Cricket Lovers, with big wins behind them, qualified from Group A for the semifinals, along with Nongdawah CC, who were not in action today.
