Shillong, Jul 30: St Anthony’s HSS (featured photo), Iewrynghep SS and Roman Catholic Evening SS (both pictured below) won their respective finals of the State Level Subroto Cup football tournament at the Sports Authority of India Centre at NEHU here today.

In a closely-fought U-14 boys’ category final, Roman Catholic Evening SS of West Jaintia Hills edged New Nongstoin SS of West Khasi Hills 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

Later, Iewrynghep SS of East Khasi Hills defeated Sati Raja Memorial SS of Ri-Bhoi 2-1 in the U-17 girls’ final. Maijingsuk Basawiamoit (17′) and Makrisha Songthiang (50′) scored for the champions and Kynrohbaskhem Shylla (36′) for the runners-up.

Lastly, in the U-17 boys’ final, a seventh minute goal by Blanangshngain Khongsdam sealed victory for East Khasi Hills’ St Anthony’s HSS over Sib Sing Memorial HSS of West Khasi Hills.

Individual awards were also given out at the closing ceremony. In the U-14 boys’ category, Idamayalang Pyrtuh of Roman Catholic Evening SS was named Best Goalkeeper and his team mate Richanmi-o Lyngdoh Player of the Tournament.

Sati Raja Memorial SS’s Ribansi Jamu was named Best Goalkeeper of the U-17 girls’ category, with Makrisha Songthiang of Iewrynghep SS the Player of the Tournament.

Banshaibok Sohshang of Sib Sing Memorial HSS picked up the Best Goalkeeper award of the U-17 boys’ category, with Chibaitki Pamthied of St Anthony’s HSS the Player of the Tournament.

Present on the occasion were Commissioner & Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs Vijay Kumar,  Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Wanri Booth, Meghalaya State Olympic Association Working President John F Kharshiing, MSOA General Secretary Finely Pariat and Assistant Director of Sports & Youth Affairs PB War Nongbri.
