Shillong, Nov 18: Guest professional Rajesh Bishnoi struck a half-century but Meghalaya still lost by nine wickets to Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Kolkata yesterday.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Meghalaya had a torrid time against a top-class bowling attack, as they managed just 111 all out in 40 overs. Bishnoi made 53 not out from 87 deliveries, the only batter to get on top of the bowlers.

Meghalaya were absolutely reeling at 23/6 and then 45/7 before Bishnoi found some welcome support from Riboklang Hynniewta, who occupied enough time at the other end (he made 10 from 72 balls) for the pair to make 47 for the eighth wicket.

There were not enough runs to defend, however, but Abhishek Kumar, the hero from Meghalaya’s last outing where he claimed five wickets against Assam, captured one wicket (1/14) in seven economical overs.

Tomorrow, Meghalaya will play their fifth match, against Jharkhand.
