Shillong, Feb 3: There was amazing news yesterday when it was announced by the All India Football Federation that Meghalaya’s Ribahunshisha Kharshiing had been called up by the Indian U-17 women’s team for two friendly matches to be played against Jordan.
Kharshiing is an academy product of Kick Start Football Coaching Centre who joined Bhaichung Bhutia Football Academy in Nashik last year.
The Indian U-17s have been in training in Chennai since January. They will travel to Jordan on Saturday, with the matches scheduled for 6th and 9th February.
Kharshiing, a midfielder, represented Meghalaya last year in the Junior Girls National Football Championship and also played for Laitkor in the Shillong Sports Association’s inaugural Women’s League 2022. Her team finished as runners-up and she scored eight of their 13 goals.
