Shillong, May 14: Laban Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School won the Shillong Cricket Association’s U-18 Inter School League 2022-23 by 26 runs against All Saints’ School in the final here yesterday.
On winning the toss, Laban Bengalee Boys batted commandingly to post 132/4 in 15 overs, with a smashing 86 from 46 deliveries by Dipankar Barua, while Aditya bagged 2/24 for All Saints.
In reply, the latter were only able to make 107/8 in their 15 overs, with a top score of 43 from 35 by Manthan Dey.
Barua was named Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament. Manthan Dey was the Best Batter, Bishal Kr Rai Best Wicketkeeper, Rohan More Best Bowler and RB Anupchand School Best Disciplined Team.
The tournament was not without unwelcome drama in the form of some schools using fake student players. Guilty teams had to forfeit the matches concerned.
