Shillong, Aug 20: Umphyrnai SC won the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-14 Boys Football League 2023 by beating PFR Football Academy 2-1 yesterday.
Vikyson Wankhar (40′) and Damebantei Kharkongor (64′) scored for Umphyrnai on either side of Rafieldstar Nongkynrih (58′) for PFR.
As champions, Umphyrnai were awarded Rs 10,000, with PFR picking up Rs 6,000.
This is the second SSA tournament that Umphyrnai have won this year after first winning the final of the U-10 Boys League in May.
The tournament began with 19 teams split between four groups. The top two teams from each group progressed to the quarterfinals.
Senior SSA members were present on the occasion, including Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Robert Dkhar, SS Rapthap and Prosper Warjri, among others.
