Shillong, Aug 30: Meghalaya won 13 medals at the 10th North East Zone Shooting Championship, which was organised by the Shooting Association of Meghalaya at the Assam Regimental Centre here from 20th to 27th August.

More than 270 shooters from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland participated at the championship, with Assam claiming the title of overall champions. Also taking part were members of the Assam Rifles and Services.

The event was held in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs with support from the North Eastern Council under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India.

Assam won 27 Gold, 13 Silver and 13 Bronze. Mizoram were second with 18 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze, while Assam Rifles were third with 12 Gold, 8 Silver and 9 Bronze.

Services were fourth with 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze while hosts Meghalaya were in fifth position with 3 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze medals, followed by Manipur (10 Silver and 7 Bronze) and Nagaland (6 Silver and 3 Bronze).
