Shillong, Dec 14: West Jaintia Hills and Mawsynram (featured photo) won the women’s and men’s titles at the 3rd Meghalaya Open Softball Championship, which concluded yesterday at Polo Ground here.
The three-day event had begun on Monday.
Today morning saw the third-place playoffs, which were won by Dkhiah in the women’s category and WJH in the men’s category against Mawkyrwat and Nongstoin respectively.
The WJH women’s team then defeated Lynti Jam of Ri-Bhoi in the women’s final, followed by victory for Mawsynram over Dkhiah in the men’s title match that followed.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Meghalaya State Olympic Association General Secretary Finely Pariat and Assistant Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Khroobok Passah.
