Shillong, Dec 15: Umphrup SC and Lumshyiap SC shared spoils after a 2-2 draw in what was the last group match of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Lumshyiap were shaping up for victory in the Group B encounter after they took a 2-0 lead through Aldomac Nongneng (13′, 36′). Incidentally, this was the second time in as many games that Aldomac has scored a brace.
Umphrup fought back in the second half, however, and levelled proceedings with goals by Hamenangsan Khriemujat (57′) and Wallambor Kharumnuid (69′).
The result does not affect the points table, with Umphrup and Lumshyiap remaining in fourth and sixth places respectively. However, they would have each jumped one position had they managed to win this match.
The semifinals will start tomorrow, with Group B toppers Pohkseh SC facing Group A runners-up Sohryngkham SC at First Ground. Kick-off will be at 1:45PM. Details of the second semifinal were not divulged by the SSA.
