Shillong, Jan 20: Umphyrnai SC held off some late pressure for a 1-0 victory against Mawkhar SC in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Damanglang Kharbyngar scored the only goal in the 23rd minute. This was Umphyrnai’s first win of the season; they lost their opener to Nongrim Hills SC by the same margin.
Mawkhar, despite having many good opportunities, failed to convert their chances as they weren’t too disciplined in the final third of the pitch. They had earlier drawn their first match, so they’re still looking for a maiden win of the season.
The next match will be on 23rd January between Lawsohtun SC and Laitkor SC at 2:15PM.
