Shillong, Mar 8: Lumkynsai FC won a long penalty shootout 8-7 to progress to the semifinals of the 2nd Shortimai Knockout Football Tournament in Smit today.
Lumkynsai were up against Brother United FC of Mawlangwir in the third quarterfinal and it proved to be a thrilling match.
Ishaar Mukhim (8′) scored early but BUFC equalised through Reinjoywell Wartde (40′) later in the first half.
Changing over, neither side could find a goal in the second 45 minutes and the normal time finished 1-1.
The man behind the sticks for Lumkynsai, Melamkmenlang Mukhim, was named Player of the Match. He received the award from Bhalang Kharumnuid, Secretary of Dong Lemthaw, Smit.
The fourth and last quarterfinal will be played on 15th March between Real Mythic Smit and Mihpli United at 1PM.
