Shillong, Mar 13: Smit CC and Lumpaia Avengers CC won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today.

In the first match, Smit took on Thangsning CC and swept to a nine-wicket victory. Thangsning won the toss and chose to bat first but were dismissed for a paltry 57 in 18.4 overs, with no batter getting into double figures. Eventual Player of the Match Syntem Kamwamut Nengnong (pictured left) took 4/7 in 4 overs.

Smit then breezed to victory in 5.4 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Raymond Thabah top-scored with 29 from 20 balls.

Later, Lumpaia Avengers defeated Marbisu CC by 118 runs. Easterland Iangrai was just short of a half-century, finishing on 47 from 38 balls after Lumpaia Avengers won the toss and chose to bat first, while Richard Collin Diengdoh bagged 2/16 in 2 overs as the Avengers posted 181/6 in 20 overs.

In reply, Marbisu were all out for only 63, having batted for 15.1 overs. Dapkupar Nongrum top-scored with 17 from 32 deliveries. Bryan MacMillan Marbaniang (pictured right) bowled a terrific spell to finish with 6/15 in 3.1 overs and he was named Player of the Match. Marbaniang has a fine cricket moniker, with his namesake, Brian McMillan having been an all-rounder for South Africa who fans of a certain age will remember.
