Shillong, Dec 12: Representatives of the Meghalaya Sports Climbing and Mountaineering Association bagged three medals at the recently concluded North East Zonal Sport Climbing Championship 2023 at Chemchey, Sikkim.

The three-day event ran from 8th to 10th December.

Dadapbiang Lyngdoh won Meghalaya’s lone gold medal by finishing first in the Lead Climbing event of the Sub-Junior Girls category.

Valarie Suchiang took silver in Lead Climbing in the Women’s Open category and Bhabok Nongkhlaw claimed a bronze in Bouldering in the Sub-Junior Boys category.

MeSCMA sent a team of 13 climbers to the championship, while four members of the association officiated at it as judge, route setters and belayer. The Meghalaya contingent was managed by Hunlin Lyngdoh.

Winners will now prepare to participate in the forthcoming 27th National Sport Climbing Championship to be held at Bangalore from 21st to 24th December, MeSCMA informed yesterday in a press release.
