Shillong, Mar 15: Marbisu CC and Pomshutia CC both won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today but by narrow margins.

Marbisu were seven-run winners against Thynroit CC while Pomshutia defeated Mawphlang CC by 14 runs.

In the first match, Marbisu won the toss and chose to bat first, making 122/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Dapkupar Nongrum top-scored with 24, while Everest Warjri took 2/21 in 4 overs.

Thynroit gave it their all in the chase but fell short even though they still had wickets in hand. Osric Herbert Wanswett struck 36 from 34 deliveries but his team were restricted to 115/6 in 20 overs. Shalen Kurbah netted 2/11 in 4 overs for Marbisu. The Player of the Match was Kyntiewdorlang Sun (pictured right).

Later, Pomshutia also won the toss and decided to have a bat first. They were able to put up a bigger total – 135/8 in their 20 overs, though the top score was just 22 by Donkupar Syiemlieh, who took 14 deliveries to get there. Janailang Dohtdong bagged 2/16 in 4 overs.

Mawphlang scored at 6 an over but couldn’t meet the required run rate and finished their innings on 121/7. Nativity Mawphlang hit a run-a-ball 18, while Shembhalang Pyngrope grabbed 3/19, which were the best figures all day. Donkupar (pictured left), though, was named Player of the Match.
