Shillong, May 12: St Alfred’s Secondary School were crowned Overall Champions at the District Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2024 in Ri-Bhoi, which concluded yesterday in Nongpoh.
Athletes of St Alfred’s picked up a total of 31 medals – 16 gold, nine silver and six bronze.
The three-day event began on 9th May, organised by the office of the District Sports Officer. Four new meet records were set during the meet.
St Alfred’s, which is located in Marngar, also won the Best Team awards in the U-14 girls’, U-14 boys’, U-16 girls’ and U-18 girls’ categories.
St Paul’s Higher Secondary School won the Best Team awards in the U-16 boys’ and U-18 boys’ categories.
Ri-Bhoi Additional Deputy Commissioner Raja Brahma was the chief guest and the District School Education Officer Paidolyne L Nonglait the guest of honour. Other dignitaries included the Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association’s President RB Shadap and Joint Secretary Joplin Sten.
