Shillong, Jun 20: Christian Higher Secondary School, Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School and Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School won the U-17 girls’, U-15 boys’ and U-17 boys’ titles respectively in the District Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup for Ri-Bhoi district yesterday.
The girls’ final saw Christian HSS win 4-2 on penalties against Saiden SS.
The U-15 boys’ final was also decided in a penalty shootout, with Nongjri Presbyterian holding their nerve for a 5-4 result over Myngken Christian.
However, the two sides would go up against each other in the U-17 boys’ final and this time Myngken Christian held on for a 1-0 win against Nongjri Presbyterian.
Individual Best Player awards were also handed out at the prize distribution ceremony. The U-17 girls’ award went to Pynibha Rongthaluh of Christian HSS. The corresponding U-15 boys’ gong went to Banteilang Malieh of Nongjri Presbyterian, while Saindur Rynjah of Myngken Christian bagged the honour in the U-17 boys’ category.
