Shillong, Jul 9: Mawphlang SC were behind in the game twice before beating Mawkasiang SC 3-2 in Group F of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 at Polo here today.
In the other match, in Group E, Risa Colony SC took down Laitumkhrah SC 2-1.
At Third Ground, Westernroy Nongrum gave Mawkasiang the lead in the 24th minute only for Damutskhemlang Kharsahnoh (26′) to pull off the equaliser two minutes later. Mawkasiang then retook the lead in the 32nd minute via Teiborlang Khongjee and held on till the half time break of the 70-minute match.
Mawphlang, however, battled their way back in the second half, scoring through Bankit Kurbah (58′) and Firstborn Synrem (68′) to give them victory and provisional first place in Group F with 4 points from two games.
Over at First Ground, Risa Colony scored through Firstjohnpaul Khyriem (49′) and Damanshwa Marboh (65′) on either side of Laitumkhrah’s only goal, which came via Sankin Lynser (60′).
The win also takes Risa Colony to the top of Group E with 5 points from three outings.
