Shillong, Jul 31: Laitumkhrah SC and Madan SCC claimed the last two available places in the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 by winning their Round of 16 matches at First Ground, Polo here today.
Laitumkhrah became the fourth team in the second round to require a tiebreaker to progress, winning the shootout 5-3 after full time finished goalless against Diengpasoh SC.
Later, Madan SCC had no such troubles against Mawpdang SC, winning 3-0. Wankmen Lyngdoh put his side into the lead in the 13th minute, with Phermanbha Lyngdoh (69′) and Anderson Nongkynrih 70’+1) confirming the result late in the 70-minute match.
All four clubs today were second-placed in their respective groups – Laitumkhrah in Group D, Diengpasoh in Group E, Mawpdang in Group B and Madan SCC in Group C.
The quarterfinals will start tomorrow.
