Shillong, Aug 23: Meghalaya are through to the quarterfinals of the U-15 boys’ Subroto Cup after beating Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu 8-0 in Bangalore today.

Meghalaya have won all their Group B matches, starting with a 6-0 victory against Sri Lanka, then making it 7-0 versus ISSO yesterday and going one better today. Another team in the same group, Madhya Pradesh, were disqualified.

Today, Chanjib Chetry scored a third hat-trick in as many games for a running total of 10 goals now. One goal each was also scored by Namebanlam Nongkseh, Samuel Malieh, Mark R Marak, Iainehskhem Warjri and Iaisynroplang Syiemlieh.

Meghalaya are being represented in the U-15 boys’ category by Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School of Ri-Bhoi, which won the state-level Subroto Cup last month.

Meghalaya now enters into the business end of the tournament and their quarterfinal will be against Army Boys Company at 7AM on Sunday.
