Shillong, Sep 7: Sohiong SC were staring at a second defeat before they turned things around with only minutes remaining and secure a 2-2 draw against Umphrup SC in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The later match saw Laitkyrhong SC and Meghalaya Police draw 1-1. Both games were in Group A.
Fredy Kharbyngngar (34′) and Bannangkiew Khriem (47′) scored on either side of half time for Umphrup and they must have thought that they had done enough for victory before Sohiong’s Batipskhem Wahlang (86′) pulled one back late in the day. Wanboklang Kharshilot (90’+2) then equalised in stoppage time.
Both sides had lost their opening fixtures on Monday.
On the other hand, both Laitkyrhong and MLP had won theirs. Today, Laitkyrhong went in front through Learningstar Warlarpih (20′) before Aldrin Ramsiej (33′) equalised for the police in the first half itself.
