Shillong, Oct 10: Group B leaders Nongkrem SC were held to a goalless draw by bottom side Laitlyngkot SC in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match of the day saw Marbisu SC earn a welcome 3-0 victory against Lumshyiap SC.
TSR wasn’t there in person for the game but it’s quite likely that Nongkrem saved their strength for bigger matches ahead. They had already secured a place in the semifinals even before today’s result.
For Laitlyngkot, playing their last match, this was their first point after a run of five defeats. They will still finish at the bottom of the group and will therefore be relegated to the Third Division next season.
Later, Marbisu, who had only scored one goal in their previous four games, found the back of the net three times, thanks to a brace from Bankitkupar Marbaniang (33′, 90’+4) and one goal from Arnesstar Kharpuri (66′).
The win saw Marbisu leapfrog Lumshyiap in the points table.
There will be no SSA matches tomorrow on account of the Meghalaya Youth League finals.
