Shillong, Dec 6: The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association organised state level sport climbing selection trials at the climbing wall of 58 Gorkha Training Centre in Happy Valley, Shillong, to select participants to represent the state in the forthcoming North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition 2024 and 6th Meghalaya Games.
The North East event will begin in the third week of December while the Meghalaya Games will take place in January.
Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, DD Shira, was present as chief guest. The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs supported the two-day trials on 4th and 5th December.
In total, 52 participants reported for the trials from Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills, Ri-Bhoi, West Khasi Hills and East Khasi Hills, MeSCMA said in a press release yesterday.
The association also expressed its gratitude to the Commandant of 58 GTC for allowing the members and climbers to use their climbing wall facilities for the selection trials and training.
