Shillong, Jan 8: Thirteen youth climbers have been selected by the Meghalaya Sport Climbing & Mountaineering Association to represent the state at the IMF North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition to be held in Roing, Arunachal Pradesh, from 9th to 11th January.
The selection of the 13 climbers was made after trials on 4th and 5th December followed by training from 3rd to 6th January.
Hunlin Lyngdoh has accompanied the Meghalaya contingent as manager. In addition, three members of MeSCMA, Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih, Teimiki Sungoh and Ibakordor Shisha Mary Sawian, will officiate at the zonal competition as judge, route setter and belayer respectively.
In a press release today, the association also expressed its gratitude to the Commandant of the 58 Gorkha Training Centre in Happy Valley for allowing the members and climbers to use the army climbing wall for selection and training.
