Shillong, Feb 7: Lumpaia Avengers and Laitjem CC won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.
The Avengers defeated Mawphlang CC by 33 runs in the first match, while Laitjem were victors by a whopping 126 runs against Mawmluh CC.
Laitjem won the toss and chose to bat first where they went at more than 10 runs an over for a huge total of 204/5 in 20 overs. Marken B Kharkongor top-scored with 52 from just 24 deliveries, while Aiban Tyngshain Rajee took in 2/33 in 3 overs.
Mawmluh’s chase ended prematurely as they were bowled out in 14.5 overs for only 78 on the board. Pynsuklang Rajee’s 23 from 22 was the high score, while Arky Kharbhih bowled beautifully for figures of 4/9 in 3 overs. Marken (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
Earlier, Mawphlang put Lumpaia Avengers in to bat first but the latter were able to make a healthy 147/7 in 20 overs, with Aldy Mebandondor Nongbri hitting 32 from 27 deliveries while Mawlynnai Wahlang claimed 2/26 in 4 overs.
In reply, Mawphlang batted until the last over before they were ultimately dismissed for 114 in 19.2 overs, with Wandondor Jyrwa’s 40 from 47 in vain. Daryll Donald Nongbri (pictured left) bagged 3/20 in 4 overs. He also made 25 from 20 with the bat and was named Player of the Match.
