Shillong, Feb 22: Cricket Lovers and Sohra Combines won their respective quarterfinal matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.

Cricket Lovers defeated Cricket Smit by 54 runs before Sohra Combines beat Laitkynsew CC by 40 runs.

In the first match, Cricket Smit won the toss and chose to field first, with Cricket Lovers putting up a total of 173/4 in 20 overs, with Shavian Blah leading the way with a half century (69 from 50 deliveries).

In reply, Cricket Smit never could get on top of the target and were bowled out for 119 in 18.4 overs, Shankupar Kharbangar’s 36 from 28 was the top score, while Synrapsing Riahtam claimed the best figures of 3/10 in 3 overs. Md Muksodul Choudhury (pictured left) was named Player of the Match.

Later, Sohra Combine won the toss and opted to bat first and were restricted to 123/5 in 18 overs. Pherson Diengdoh top-scored with 57 from 44 balls.

Laitkynsew were then dismissed for just 83 in 16.1 overs, with Kevin Diengdoh (pictured right) shining with a five-wicket haul of 5/10 in 3 overs. He as subsequently named Player of the Match. Mortician Malngiang’s 20 from 18 was the top score.

The remaining two quarterfinals will take place on Tuesday. In the first, Pomshutia CC will face Laitjem CC from 9AM, followed by Friends United versus Hurdles CC of Mawsynram from 12:30PM.
