Shillong, Feb 27: Mawten A beat Royal Challenger Mawsynram by 17 runs in the thrilling final of the 5th Mawten Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 yesterday.

Mawten elected to bat first and scored 136/10 runs in 20 overs. The team’s batting started strong with Kishan Lyngdoh and Nishanta Chakraborty but collapsed in the middle due to young Sandy Kharshandi’s exceptional bowling, which included a hat-trick in his first over. However, Kitborlin and Ram Gurung’s 58 runs together helped Mawten SC reach a competitive total.

In response, Royal Challenger Mawsynram started well, with Silvester Mylliempdah and Raj Biswa scoring 28 runs each. However, Ajay Duhan’s impressive bowling turned the game around, as he took four wickets and the chasing team ended short as they were bowled out for 119 in 19.1 overs.

The crowd also witnessed some exceptional catches by Ram Gurung of Mawten A and Bamanbha Shangpliang of Royal Challenger Mawsynram, adding to the excitement.

Individual awards were also presented at the prize distribution ceremony, with Davis Lyngdoh of Green XI being awarded the highest run scorer, Enrich M Lyngdoh of Braveheart CC taking home the highest wicket-taker award, Ajay Duhan being named the Player of the Final, and Klos Lyngdoh receiving the Player of the Tournament award.
