Shillong, Jun 9: The 39th National Games, which Meghalaya is set to host in 2027, is still nearly two years away but the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association is taking the long view in its preparations for the mega event.

On Saturday, AMKA held a meeting of students and parents to sensitise them about Meghalaya karate team’s preparation for 2027.

All the shortlisted probables attended the meeting along with their parents.

Senior members of AMKA briefed them on the 20-month training plan and the support and infrastructure that will be provided by the state government.

The association also sought the commitment of the athletes and the support of their parents to ensure the success of Team Meghalaya at the Games.

AMKA members present on the occasion were its President Hunlang Lytan, Vice-President Banshanlang Kharumnuid, General Secretary Ksan Kupar Warjri and members Donboklang Lyngdoh, Arjun Sewa, Mingson Rymbai and Allister B Kharwanlang.

Meghalaya has had much national success in karate over the years and this AMKA plan hopes to continue that.
