Shillong, Jun 21: Mawkasiang, Lapalang and Them Rangshken won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground here today.
They did it in contrasting fashions, with Mawkasiang blanking Summit Football Academy 3-0, Lapalang holding off Nongthymmai Nongkynrih 2-1 and Them Rangshken twice going behind before beating Lummawbah 3-2.
Mawkasiang, in Group C, were playing their first match and dealt with the boys from Summit Academy fairly routinely, with goals from Geoff Suting (36′) and Kyrmen Mukhim (49′, 78′).
Also in Group C, Lapalang and Nongthymmai Nongkynrih were goalless in the first half before Ryntihlang Marap (51′) and Superlative Khongain (72′) gave Lapalang a two-goal cushion, which was reduced by a Shain Mujai goal in the 73rd minute for Nongthymmai Nongkynrih.
Finally, in Group B, Lummawbah twice held the lead thanks to Fredy Ryntathiang (23′) and Bajiedlang Rangslang (56′) but on both occasions Them Rangshken found the required equaliser via Elban Kurbah (27′) and Batisha Langstieh (62′) respectively. Neban Janong (71′) scored his second goal in as many matches in the last 10 minutes of the 80-minute contest to seal victory for Them Rangshken.
