Shillong, Jul 7: Them Rangshken and Lummawbah won their respective matches to seal the top two positions in Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground here today.
Lummawbah and Mawlyngngad, both tied on 4 points before today, clashed in the morning match where Lummawbah came through as 1-0 winners thanks to a goal on the edge of half time of the 80-minute match by Tyngshainlang Kharmawlong (40′).
As Them Rangshken (on 7 points before today) had beaten each of these two teams, they already had head-to-head advantage and had thus guaranteed first place but nevertheless they went all out against Nongkohlew and won 5-1 against the bottom team in the group.
Neban Janong (3′), Elban Kurbah (39′, 48′), Gilbert Kurbah (40’+3) and Peristar Kharphuli (80’+3) were the scorers for Them Rangshken today. Nongkohlew’s lone goal was by Pynshailang Ryntathiang (9′).
Between these two games was a Group F contest between Lawei and Lumpyngngad, which finished 1-1. Lumpyngngad had already secured a place in the second round, though they could have moved to first place had they beaten Lawei by a large margin. Instead, they settled for a draw, which leaves them in second behind Mawlynrei.
Lawei earned their first point, though it wasn’t enough to spare them from holding the group’s wooden spoon. Rishailang Manar (10′) scored for Lawei before Donlang Kharsyiemiong (19′) equalised for Lumpyngngad a few minutes later.
