Shillong, Jul 18: Lawmali Pyllun defeated Nongumlong 2-0 in Group A of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 2 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Banganson Nongphlang (45’P, 63′) scored a brace to take Lawmali to 4 points from two games. This was Nongumlong’s first game of the season.
The referee awarded a penalty just before half time when a Lawmali player was fouled in the box by a defender. Banganson stepped up to take the spot kick and converted, though Nongumlong goalkeeper Wanname Mawlong did get a bit of glove on the ball.
In the second half, a long ball sailed over the head of a Nongumlong player and Banganson was on hand to chase it down and score past the keeper to make it 2-0.
Nongumlong were active and creative when it came to chances but their execution was found wanting as they were off target more often than not.
