Shillong, Jul 21: Umrynjah won their first match of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today by trouncing Rynjah 5-2 with a hat-trick by Balviky Margnar.

Also in Group B, Lumparing held off a dogged Imson to win 3-2 while in Group C Iatylli SC defeated Gorkha Association 2-1.

Wanborlang L Nongbri (2′) struck in only the second minute for Umrynjah in what is the fastest goal of the season so far. Balviky (44′, 63′, 90’+2) scored the first of his goals late in the first half before adding two more in the second. There was also an own goal by a Rynjah player in the 68th minute. For their part, Rynjah scored through Vanquish Pohlong (24′) and Medonbanshan Mylliemngap (51′).

The second set of teams took some time to get going but when they did, Lumparing and Imson delivered some entertaining football even if it was in the pouring rain.

Kyrpanglang Mawlong (59′) netted first for Lumparing but Imson, who had lost heavily in their first fixture, bounced back when Bosil Thabah’s (64′) shot on the run took a heavy deflection off a defender and went into the net. After several attempts before (including once being denied by the upright), Joslang Lyngkhoi finally found the target from a tight angle in the 67th minute to restore Lumparing’s lead.

However, once again Imson found the equaliser, this time in the 87th minute with a powerful header by Fidel Nongkhlaw off a free-kick. Imson, though, were unable to hold on for a point, as they conceded to Sholinstar Syngkli (90’+3) with a header of his own in stoppage time.

The last match of the day saw Iatylli bag their second win, while Gorkha Association lost for a second time. Joinborlang Kharumnuid (8′) and Iatyllibor Mynsong (73′) scored for the winners, while Yash Kanwar (67′) provided Gorkha Association’s lone goal.
