Shillong, Jul 24: Umlyngka registered a huge 5-0 win against Rynjah in Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
In the other match of the day, in Group C, Kharang bagged their first points with a 3-1 victory against bottom side Gorkha Association.
Bastius Nongbsap (11′), Chester Makroh (33′, 76′), Samborlang Nongbsap (57′) and Mario Shanpru (67′) scored almost at will for Umlyngka; this was their second win and closely mirrored the first where they won 5-1 against Imson on 16th July. It was also, as it turns out, the second time in a row that Rynjah conceded five goals in a match; they lost to Umrynjah 5-2 three days ago.
Earlier, Gorkha Association finished off their Third Division campaign with a third consecutive defeat. In a battle to avoid relegation, Kharang came out the victors thanks to goals from Robenroy Warlarpih (67′), Blesson Warlarpih (76′) and Albest Kharsohnoh (81′). Gorkha Association had taken the lead in the first half via Yash Kanwar (23′) but couldn’t hold it. Yash has been Gorkha’s most consistent scorer, producing a goal in each of his side’s three games.
Kharang still have one group game to go but it’s the end of the road for Gorkha Association and they will be relegated to next season’s U-20 Fourth Division.
