Shillong, Aug 28: Shillong Lajong came from a goal down to defeat Nongrim Hills 3-1 in the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium here today.

Nongrim Hills were not left happy, however, when the referee dished out a red card after Phrangki Buam was fouled in the box in the 65th minute, also giving Lajong a penalty, which led to heated exchanges between the Nongrim players and the official and a second player was also sent off probably for arguing a bit too vociferously.

There were chances for both sides early on but Alem Khongwir put Nongrim into the lead in the 31st minute as he front-toed the ball from long range to beat Lajong goalkeeper Bishal Lama.

In the 42nd minute, however, Lajong won a corner and it was delivered to the far post, allowing Kenstar Kharshong to swing it in, though the ball did strike a defender manning the post before going in.

If anything, Buam was clever in the way he drew the fouls while in the box on both occasions. Mahesh Naorem converted the first penalty in the 67th minute but he was substituted later.

Despite having a two-man advantage SLFC failed to really punish Nongrim after that and only found their third goal after the second penalty was awarded to them. This time Buam himself took the spot kick.

Tomorrow Nangkiew Irat are scheduled to face Langsning at 3:30PM.
