Shillong, Aug 20: Meghalaya lost their opening fixture against Mizoram 2-0 in the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 1) in Jorhat, Assam, today.

Zonunsiami (2′) and P Seipaw (44′) scored in the first half and Mizoram held on to their two-goal lead until the final whistle.

Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Mizoram and Gujarat form Group A.

Defending champions Manipur are with Delhi, Tamil Nadu and hosts Assam in Group B, while Group C comprises West Bengal, Maharashtra, Odisha and Haryana. Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are in Group D.

Meghalaya will face Gujarat next on Friday at 8:30AM.
