Shillong, Sep 13: The last of the group stage matches of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2025 were held today, with Marbisu defeating Umphrynai 3-0, while Mawryngkneng beat Umphrup 3-1.

The final points tables

Victory for Mawryngkneng took them to first place in the Group C standings. At the SSA Stadium today they scored through Iohbor Mukhim (2′), Rishot Sari (5′) and Andy Kharsati (47′), while Umphrup’s lone goal was via Nangskhemlang Wahlang (22′).

Earlier, in Group B, Marbisu blanked bottom side Umphyrnai with a hat-trick for Fildy Star Nongbet (27′, 34′, 51′). There was to be no change in the standings, however, as Marbisu still finished behind Smit on goal difference (the two sides had played out a draw, so head-to-head has no effect).

However, Marbisu will be one of the two best third-placed teams (the other being Tynring) to qualify for the quarterfinals, which will begin on 16th September.

The lowest-ranked team from each of the three groups will also play in a mini league of the bottom three sides and the two with the worst results will be relegated to the Third Division in 2026. The lowest teams this season are the three Ums – Umpling, Umphyrnai and Umphrup. These matches will also begin on 16th September.
