Shillong, Sep 22: The Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2025 will begin on 29th September with 10 teams vying for the title and ultimately promotion to next season’s Shillong Premier League.
The single group comprises Nongthymmai, Ryntih (both demoted from last season’s SPL), Mawkhar, Pohkseh, Nongkrem, Nongkseh, Meghalaya Police, Lawsohtun, Mawtawar and Nongrah.
Meghalaya Police and Nongkrem were promoted from the 2025 Second Division, with the cops winning and Nongkrem finishing as runners-up.
Each of the 10 teams will play each of the others once. Like in the SPL, there will be no final – whichever team finishes the round robin stage on top will be crowned champions.
The bottom two teams will be relegated to next year’s Second Division. Although the SSA league notes don’t mention it explicitly, both champions and runners-up are usually promoted to the SPL.
All the matches are scheduled to take place at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, in Polo.
