Shillong, Sep 24: The final day of the 36th East Zone Junior Athletics Championship 2025 ended today in Ranchi, Jharkhand, with Meghalaya claiming a total of 11 medals – five silver and six bronze.
Damika R Lyngdoh, who had bagged two silver medals prior to today, took bronze in the U-20 women’s 200 metre track event with a time of 26.45 seconds. Her total of three medals makes her the most successful Meghalaya athlete at this meet.
Balasiewdor Pathaw came third in the U-20 women’s 3000m race in a time of 11 minutes, 24.62 seconds.
In the U-20 men’s high jump, Semion Marak took bronze by clearing 1.80m, while Anrisha Klein bagged bronze also in the corresponding U-20 women’s event with a height of 1.51m.
Meanwhile, after our report yesterday, we received news that Enriyana G Momin had taken silver in the U-16 girls’ long jump with a distance of 3.92m.
Meghalaya’s haul of 11 medals is far more than 2024’s total of 4. However, last year the state U-20 mixed relay team won gold while this year the yellow metal eluded Meghalaya.
