Shillong, Oct 1: Kickboxers of the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association won four gold medals plus two silver and two bronze at the Juniors (Boys & Girls) National Kickboxing Championship 2025, which was held in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
The event ran from 22nd to 26th September. The MSKA had sent an eight-member team to the championships and each kickboxer brought home a medal.
The goal medallists were Derrick Dashankur Nongrum (K1 -54kg), Aedriel Gordon Ranee (K1 -45kg), both studying at St John Bosco Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Sohra, Erick Kharsati (K1 -81kg) of Madanrting Pdengshnong and Rishanskhem Lipon (Low Kick -54kg) of Nongmensong Umkdait.
The two silver medallists were Emiliana Susngi (Low Kick -45kg) of Umsawli Mawpat and Barkis Nongkhlaw (K1 -46kg) of Mawlyngngad.
Orickson Marbaniang (Low Kick -45kg) of Pynthorumkhrah and Shongkun D Khongwar (K1 -65kg) of Demthring bagged bronze medals.
The Meghalaya contingent was led by coach Nathaniel P Kurkalang, an international kickboxer in his own right.
The MSKA today informed that the four gold medal winners are already in the ranking list to represent India at the Asian Kickboxing Championship 2025. The other medallists are also eligible to be included in the ranking list after final selection upon attending the international training camp of the WAKO India Kickboxing Federation to be held in Bangalore from 3rd to 12th November.
