Shillong, Oct 14: Wahiajer Narpuh SSC defeated Byndihati CSC 7-6 in a penalty shootout to lift the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s First Division 2025 title in Khliehriat today.
Normal time had finished 1-1 and the game was taken to an extended tiebreaker, which Wahiajer Narpuh won by resolutely holding their ground against Byndihati.
Incidentally, both teams also required penalties in their respective semifinal in order to reach the title match.
As champions, Wahiajer Narpuh received Rs 60,000, while the runners-up took home Rs 40,000. Both finalists will be promoted to next season’s Super Division.
Chief among the dignitaries today was Sutnga Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla.
