Shillong, Aug 1: Sanmer left it late but claimed a 2-0 victory against Lamlynti to win the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2026 at the SSA Stadium here today.

Khrawkupar Nongbri (71′) headed in a cross for the opening goal before Emerald Jyrwa (78′) doubled the lead just before the end of the 80-minute match.

Khrawkupar was named Player of the Final. The Top Scorer award was shared between Lummawbah’s Adelbor K Shun and Pomlakrai’s Vicky Kurkalang, both of whom scored four goals each. Lummawbah went out in the Super 8 stage, while Pomlakrai reached as far as the semifinals.

The two finalists and the two semifinalists (Umiew Maw U Sam being the other) will be promoted to next season’s Second Division. Nongumlong and Iaitylli will be relegated to the Fourth Division.

Today Sanmer were presented with their champions’ trophy and cheque of Rs 80,000 from SSA President Banteidor Lyngdoh. Lamlynti received Rs 40,000 as runners-up.

During the prize distribution ceremony the SSA also felicitated three of its match officials – Pynskhemhame Mawthoh, Jespar Syiemlieh and Pipilmoris Wanniang – on recently passing their AIFF Level 5 examinations to become Category 5 referees/assistant referees.
