Shillong, Dec 12: Alvin Eshaan Khyriem has been selected for admission into the prestigious Tata Football Academy, the stepping stone for many a successful footballer in India.
The 14-year-old, a resident of Pohktieh, is currently under contract with Don Bosco Football Academy in Vaduthala, Kerala.
Khyriem was one of 20 youngsters who were provided with full four-year scholarships by TFA out of the 650-odd candidates who appeared for the trials.
TFA is based in Jamshedpur and Khyriem will represent Indian Super League side Jamshedpur FC’s U-17 team at group state of the upcoming Elite Youth League, an All India Football Federation tournament. Jamshedpur have been slotted into Group D in Imphal.
Khyriem got into the Kerala academy last year. He and five other boys from Meghalaya were part of the Don Bosco School Vaduthala team that won the U-17 category of the CISCE Regional Pre-Subroto Cup 2022 in Kerala on 2nd July.
