Shillong, Sep 5: Meghalaya’s girls defeated Assam 3-1 to go to the top of Group C in the Sub-Junior National Football Championship today.
To do so, Meghalaya had to overcome an early deficit in Amritsar, as Assam went ahead via Muskan Darjee in the fourth minute.
However, Meghalaya were able to restore parity right at the tail-end of the first half with Larihun Songthiang (45’+3) finding the equaliser.
Player of the Match Bonifilia Shullai then gave Meghalaya the lead in the 57th minute before Songthiang put the result beyond doubt with a second goal in the 70th minute.
Having won their first match against Gujarat, Meghalaya now have 6 points with a game to go against bottom side Chhattisgarh on Thursday.
