Shillong, Feb 25: Laitjem CC and Friends United won their respective quarterfinal matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.

The first two quarterfinals took place on Saturday.

Today, Laitjem defeated Pomshutia CC by nine wickets before Friends United had a narrower victory by two wickets over Hurdles of Mawsynram.

Laitjem won the toss and chose to bowl, restricting Pomshutia to just 111/6 in 20 overs. Felix Savio Kharsati top-scored with 37 from 52 balls. In reply, Laitjem lost just one wicket in a successful chase that required only 13.5 overs. Marken B Kharkongngor (pictured left) struck 50 from 45 deliveries and was named Player of the Match.

Later, Hurdles batted first after winning the toss but they were also restricted to less than 6 an over and finished on 119/6 in 20 overs. Jonathan Pariong’s 28 from 30 was the high score, while Bryan MacMillan Marbaniang took 2/18 in 4 overs.

In reply, Freinds United struck the winning runs from the penultimate delivery, reaching 120/8 in 19.5 overs. Nangkiewdor Moore Don struck 23 from 18, while Shrimonto Hajong claimed 2/18 in 4 overs. Bryan (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.

Both semifinals will take place on Thursday. In the first, starting at 9AM, Cricket Lovers will go up against Laitjem. Then Sohra Combines will face Friends United at 12:30PM.
