Shillong, Sep 28: Two very different matches were played out in the 1st Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 on Saturday – both brilliant displays but in complete contrast to one another.
In Group A, Pay For Right Football Academy demolished Lapalang SSCC 11-1 in Shillong, with Meghalaya star Nisilia Majaw pumping in six goals and Makrisha Songthiang striking four.
Then, in Group B, hosts Mawlum Tyrsad were twice behind in the game against Jakrem before bouncing back for a morale-boosting 3-2 victory.
PFR were runners-up in the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s League in 2024 and are looking to compete strongly for the inaugural MWSL title. Nisilia scored five goals in the first half alone (10′, 13’P, 33′, 41′, 45′) and then added another in the 72nd before getting a deserved break on the bench for the last 10 minutes of the game. The super energetic Makrisha, on the other hand, scored in the 19th, 43rd, 56th (penalty) and 58th minutes and was a bundle of energy who made her presence felt on the pitch throughout the entire match.
PFR captain Aetisha Lytan (67′) bagged one too, while Shailinda Dkhar (61′) made sure that Lapalang, champions from Riwar Mihngi Football Association, came away with at least a consolation goal in their first match of the pathbreaking statewide league.

Over in Mawlum Tyrsad, Jakrem SC (champions from Mawkyrwat District Sports Association), claimed an early lead via Iaphishisha Marbaniang (2′). Naisha Nongrum (45’+1) found the equaliser just before the break and the two teams were level at half time.
The visitors pushed back into the lead in the 50th minute with a goal by Chibalsaldei Sangma but could not hold on as Mawlum Tyrsad SC, winners of the Tyrsad Area Sports Association’s women’s league, came back to take victory thanks to Balawanbiang Khongsit (56′) and Ibashemba Khongsit (69′).
The next matches will be held on 2nd October. In Group B, Mawten SC will face Bright Future SSCC at 12PM, followed by Mawsawrit SC against Young SCC at 2:30PM, both at Mawlum Tyrsad. In Group C, Chirupheiwi Nongkynrih FC will be up against Diengshynrum SC at 2PM at Laskein Ground.
