Shillong, Dec 23: The last six group matches of the inaugural Meghalaya State League were held at three venues across the state on Saturday.
None of the matches had any effect on the top of the individual group tables, as the top spots had already been bagged, but the teams in action today still played good football and gave it their best on the pitch.
Both games in Group B (Mairang) ended 1-1 – that between Madan Bynther and Tynrongmawsaw and Pyndengrei and Malki. The second match in Group A (Jowai) between Umlatkhur and Umkiang also ended with the same result.
The morning match in Jowai, however, was a goal fest, at least for Raliang, who smashed Jalaphet Lumsachram 6-1.
Meanwhile, in Ampati, Warima went down to Ampati SC 3-1, while A’tong Matgrik just about beat Resu Conventus 1-0 in Group D.
The first round of the home-and-away semifinals will be held on December 27.
In the first, Group A toppers Niaw Wasa will go up against Druma Sandruma of Group D in Jowai, while Tynrongmawsaw (Group C) will face Langsning (Group B) at Bhoirymbong. Both games kick off at 1:00pm.
