Shillong, May 19: Shillong Lajong FC registered their second consecutive victory by beating Ozone Football Academy 2-0 in their U-18 Youth League final round Group D match here today.
An infraction in the Ozone box gave Lajong a penalty, which was converted by Phrangki Buam in the 60th minute, and five minutes later Parvaj Bhuiya doubled the lead for Reds.
In Group D’s earlier game FC Goa blanked Aizawl FC 3-0.
Lajong have six points and stay at the top of the table, while FC Goa are second with four points. The two will meet on Monday. SLFC need just a point to qualify for the semifinals, while Goa require victory.
Tomorrow, in Group A, Sporting Clube de Goa will take on SAI Kolkata at 10AM at the JN Stadium, followed by Tata Football Academy versus Sudeva FC at 2:30PM. At Third Ground Group C’s Bengaluru FC face Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools at 10AM, while Kerala Blasters go up against DSK Shivajians at 2:30PM.
