Shillong, Oct 6: Meghalaya won their fourth match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy today, beating Manipur by 68 runs in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Put in to bat after losing the toss, Meghalaya made 238/5 in 50 overs in the plate group fixture, with Yogesh Nagar top-scoring with 67 not out.
The best partnership for Meghalaya, though, was for the second wicket, between Babloo Passah (37) and Punit Bisht (58). They put on 77 runs after the early loss of Raj Biswa (13).
Passah’s wicket was followed soon after by that of Jason Lamare and Bisht, but Nagar and Gurinder Singh (36) added another 75 runs together to steady the ship.
In the chase Meghalaya made early inroads into Manipur’s lineup, with the first three batsmen dismissed for 31 on the board.
Yashpal Singh proved to be the only resistance to Meghalaya’s bowlers – incredibly he hit a century, ending unbeaten on 106, with every other batsman not even making it to double figures.
Lakhan Singh finished with the best figures (3/24), while there were also a couple of wickets each for Gurinder (2/40) and Mark Ingty (2/23), as Manipur were bowled out for 170 in 45.4 overs.
Meghalaya will play their final group match against Puducherry on Monday in Anand, Gujarat.

U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy
Meanwhile, in their first game of the U-19 one-day Vinoo Mankad Trophy in Bhubaneshwar, Meghalaya defeated Mizoram by seven wickets and with more than half of their allotted overs remaining.
Mizoram opted to bat first after winning the toss, but were dismissed for a paltry 112 in 37 overs, with Md Ashif Khan claiming the best figures (3/31).
Ashif then returned with the bat in Meghalaya’s middle order to top-score with 28 as his team made 113/3 in 23.4 overs.
Meghalaya will next take on Nagaland tomorrow.
