Shillong, Mar 17: Meghalaya Police will meet United Umsning in the final of Mawten SC’s 5th Invitation Football Tournament after the cops defeated Eastern Pirates 3-1 in the second semifinal yesterday.
MLP broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute through Ambrose Syngkli and the police struck again in the 54th minute via man-of-the-match Teibor Siangshai.
Richmon Buam got a goal back for the Pirates by netting a cross in the 69th minute, but his team mate HC Nongbri missed a penalty later on.
A late counterattack then brought another goal for MLP, scored by Raja Shadap.
The final will be held on 23rd March, with kick-off at 1:45PM.
United Umsning had rallied from two goals down to beat Lamlongtei 5-3 in the first semi.
